A nice expansion to a not-so-nice game. This game is good, but its rules are not as elegant as the other deck building games, especially Dominion. And as mentioned by you guys, the cards really need some work.

This is a really good alternate when your tired of playing Dominion over and over, I hope to see some expansions in the near future.

I think the ratings should be a bit higher. I don’t find the game to be solitaire any more than Dominion. You need to build your deck and your gameplay strategy to what your opponent is doing so even if you don’t directly attack your foe (but indirect attacks are coming I think), it is far from playing in a void.

Dominion with a Dungeon crawler feel and theme. The game’s artwork is some of the best i have seen in any fantasy game out. If you are a fan of the theme and enjoyed the way Dominion plays this game will be another good choice for 2010!

PS: The new solo rules posted on the AVG site add a fun version of the game. There is also a revised rulebook there that you will need. The one that comes with the game seems to hide the important facts in long drawn out pages of text.

I felt like the whole game seemed to hinge on the first few rounds of buying. More experienced players will know what to buy, and a few stacks of cards will be exhausted within the first 5 minutes of gameplay, effectively deciding the game. I’ll need more experience to give this a proper score, but, while I did quite enjoy it, it’s really a game you want to be playing at a table where all players are equally experienced.

Fun game the few times i have played it however i must agree with the solitaire feel, Throw in a few cards that may interact with all other players so that you don’t feel like your in a circus game just trying to have your horse run faster then the other crossing your fingers for him to get a cramp. It plays just like dominion of which i am a HUGE fan, however your main problem is that your not at all competing with each other until the final score is tallied. Makes for a bad combination. This is a buy for those Dominion fans looking for a nice 2hour or less version of D&D. When you break it all down the game is a nice play but it leaves you with much to be desired and therefore forces you to go back to playing some other games off your closet shelf.

Why is the light points not equal to the darkness ? seems like unecessary math. 1 light point should = 1 darkness so level 3 is 2 darkness. Its not complicated this way.
What really turned me off was the lack of interaction between the players. Isn’t that the point of playing games? Would you go to someones house to play solitaire?
They even have solitary rules!

I love building a deck and that concept is great but the lack of interaction between the players makes the game really boring.
Arcadia is a MUCH better game because it adds an interaction element to the game.

I give this one a 4 on 10.
