Dead Lands – Red Dead Redemption Board Game?
Dust, grit, and the smell of fear blow through the quiet streets of a rough and tumble frontier town. Once deemed a refuge from the hazards of the West, the town took a darker turn with the discovery of precious ghost rock. You have come to lay claim to your share of the priceless mineral, only to find that you aren’t the only one who has heard of the fabulous wealth ripe for the plucking. Can you outwit your foes and take control of the town and the limitless wealth it promises to the strong and cunning? Or will an unmarked grave on boot hill be your final resting place?
What’s Cool:
- Good mix of zombies and cowboys.
- Nice production quality.
- It’s a good RPG fix.
- Different alignment for each character.
- Some outfits can cast spells and invent crazy weapons.
- You can arrest players and send them to jail.
What’s Not:
- Player screens are too small.
- Rulebook needs work.
- The base of the figurines should be a little bigger, they kept falling.
Neutral Info:
Deadlands: The Battle for Slaughter Gulch is a board game for two to six players ages 13 and up. It requires 60 to 120 minutes to play.

Its funny that you mention the map looking as if it was made from a DnD map builder. I wonder if any of these tiles were meant to be maps for the role playing game deadlands.

this game looks great. have been searching for a proper cowboy themed game for a while. I may have found what I was looking for with this one, though a tad more research is required on my part before I commit to such a purchase. Thanks for the review. It was very helpful.

This looks like it’s right up my alley. The guys and I stopped everything we were doing for about a month when Red Dead Redemption came out and have been on the look-out for a good western to play. We are also ridiculously addicted to the Zombies! board game. Looks like we might need to get out our shovels and head to that graveyard and have a show-down or two. Looks awesome! Great review! (And your are absolutely correct, it did look like they used an online map generator for the buildings… but as long as it’s as much fun as it looked I can look past that!)

Really cool game, I will certainly try this one some time. It seems to have a RPG feel, but it only lasts 120min to play, what is a good thing. Once again, great review guys. But as a foreigner, I had to watch the video twice to understand everything involved in the game. Anyway, thank you, great production once again!

Hi guys! And thanks for fulfilling my wish from long ago! In the mean time I managed to play this wonderful and exciting game! This is the rare game that I played and lost badly, so much that i didn’t even participate most of the game, but I had so much fun watching other players playing. In our hobby I thought it was impossible to watch, loose and yet have fun.
The game itself is great, and has a lot of possibilities and choices (knowing other games that are fairly linear I stuck to my choice and lost miserably). One can really feel that he is the leader of the faction and not just a player of the game. The great possibility is that players can trade and make meaningful alliances. Everything you said the review stands, except there are more then couple of questions for the rule book writers. But all in all I would give the game 8,5 on 10 cause besides all the cons the game is really great!
